A Vision for Visibility Until 2026

As Proud 2 b Parents embark on this new chapter, after securing funding for the next three years, our focus is on development, growth, and a theme that resonates deeply with our mission: Visibility.

Until 2026, Proud 2 b Parents will be diligently working towards a theme of Visibility. What does this mean for us? It means a commitment to raising awareness, improving representation, and ensuring the acknowledgment of LGBT+ parents, carers, and our children across the vast landscape of the LGBT+ sector and family-based services.

Visibility is not just about being seen; it's about being recognised, understood, and embraced. Our community, with its unique experiences and needs, deserves to be acknowledged and represented alongside others parents/ carers. Our families should be ‘seen’ as much as anyone elses through media, TV, books, images and with all sectors. Visibility creates understanding and acceptance, breaking down barriers and creating an inclusive environment for all.

  • Awareness: We aim to elevate awareness about the diverse experiences of LGBT+ families. By sharing stories, insights, and challenges, we strive to create a more informed society.

  • Representation: Our journey towards visibility includes actively working to enhance representation. This involves ensuring that LGBT+ parents and their families are authentically represented in various forums, from public spaces to family-oriented services.

  • Acknowledgment: We seek acknowledgment not only for the existence of our community but for the richness and depth of our experiences. Through education and open dialogue, we aim to promote a greater understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by LGBT+ families.

Understanding the impact of past experiences is crucial to developing a supportive environment. Proud 2 b Parents is committed to approaching our work through a trauma-informed lens, recognising and responding to the effects of trauma within our community. By doing so, we hope to create spaces that are not only visible but also sensitive to the diverse histories and narratives within the LGBT+ parenting community.

As we start this new chapter, we invite you to join us! Your stories, your voices, and your experiences are integral to the success of this visibility initiative. Stay tuned for events, discussions, and opportunities to engage with Proud 2 b Parents as we collectively work towards a more visible, inclusive, and supportive future.

Let’s make the next three years a celebration of visibility and a testament to the strength of our community.
