The Impact of Workplace Nominations

Our commitment to creating a sense of community and support for LGBTQ+ families goes hand in hand with the invaluable support we receive from our families and the broader community. In this post, we’ll shed light on the power of nominating Proud 2 b Parents in your workplace’s charity giving scheme.

When people nominate Proud 2 b Parents to receive a donation from their workplace, it contributes significantly to our sustainability and the expansion of our services.

Recently one parent, Nicola, put in a nomination with her employer, Wates. The result was a generous £500 donation from the company toward our services! This funding enables us to organise and host vital activities such as:

• Monthly Get-Togethers: £500 covers the cost of five monthly gatherings. Each one can host up to 180 people, and builds connections and a sense of belonging within the LGBTQ+ parent community.

• Mid-Week Meet-Ups: £500 covers the cost of six events for LGBT+ families, again proving opportunities for support, networking, and shared experiences.

The impact of this financial support is best articulated by Nicola herself, an LGBT+ parent and advocate for inclusivity in her workplace. Nicola says:

"Traditionally, the construction industry hasn’t always been inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community. However Wates does promote a supportive environment. When the opportunity arose to apply for a donation towards a charity or community group, I didn’t need to stop and consider whether to put Proud 2 b Parents forward!

The process was pretty straightforward with just a few emails and forms to fill in. Our charity was picked and we secured a £500 donation! I know this will help both my own and other families access Proud 2 b Parents’ services and events. So I’d encourage others to see if there are any similar grants or schemes available within their companies or organisations."
