Joe Wilson, Co-Founder of Stonewall Spirits, says:
“In early 2020, I came across the story of the Stonewall Riots that took place in 1969 in New York City. The story was inspiring, and I found myself recounting the struggle for LGBTQ+ acceptance and the significant impact it had on the world. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I recognise that the freedoms I enjoy today are a result of the movement's bravery and determination.
I wanted to help create a brand that didn’t just exist for ‘Pride Month’. I was sick of seeing big corporate spirit companies bring out a ‘Pride Edition’ bottle for June and disappear on the 1st July – Pride is 365 and I wanted to also help support LGBTQ+ charities from every product we sell. I then went on to tell the story of the 1969 Stonewall Riots to my in-laws who create spirits, it was during a conversation in a bar in Leeds that the idea for our "Stonewall Spirits" brand was born.”
