Our Board of Directors

Matt - Secretary

Matt Taylor-Robert is the Managing Director of Proud 2 b Parents and with his husband, Matt is an adoptive parent to their amazing son. He feels privileged to work for a regional adoption agency as an independent panel member and has previously worked for an independent foster agency within the same role. However, he had to step away from this role due to becoming a foster carer for this agency. Matt also works for Manchester City Council under the Directorate of Children Services where he works with families with children under 5 years old.

Laura

Laura and her partner of 13 years Rebecca have a daughter and a son. Both children are conceived by intrapartner IVF. Rebecca as biological mum and Laura as birth mum. They have been members of Proud 2 b Parents for the past 4 years. 

Professionally, Laura is a Chartered and Registered Forensic Psychologist employed by the Ministry of Justice. She has a passion for safeguarding and public safety. Equality and inclusion are at the forefront of her practice. She is experienced in research, consultancy and training. She hopes to use her experience of developing and reviewing governmental policies to support Proud 2 b Parents in their mission. 

Laura is excited to meet new people with similar experiences and drives. Laura is keen to support the LGBTQ + community as part of the board of directors for Proud 2 b Parents.

Nicola - Treasurer

Nicola joined the Board as Treasurer in 2022. Nicola has a four year old son with her wife and has been attending Proud 2 b Parents since his arrival. Nicola is a Finance Manager and loves spreadsheets and budgets! She brings financial planning and management expertise to the Board

Catherine - Chairperson

Catherine Treagus-Mullan first joined the board in 2017 and subsequently returned in 2021 to take up the role of Chair and Safeguarding lead.  Catherine has 8-year-old twins with her wife and has been accessing Proud2BParents services since her children were 8 weeks old.  Outside of Proud 2 b Parents Catherine is a Chartered Water & Environment Manager so don’t get her started talking about water or drains unless you need to catch up on your sleep!  She brings her extensive project management and leadership expertise to the board to helping drive our strategic plan forward.   

Charlotte

Charlotte joined the board in 2019 due to wanting to support the growth of Proud 2 b Parents. She is currently an engagement manager at Three Circles Fostering,  where she works specifically to ensure children are at the center of operations.

Charlotte and her partner have been together for 13 years, they have two children who all enjoy the various activities Proud 2 b Parents has to offer. Charlotte established and manages a resource website supporting LGBTQ+ youth in care.

Samuel

Samuel Clarke has been a Proud 2 b Parents board member for two years. Samuel is parent to two adopted sons, the first of whom he adopted as a single adopter.   

Samuel currently works for Manchester City Council in the Public Health department and has previously worked in the charity sector, with his focus being on fundraising and events management.

Gaynor

Gaynor Fanning has been an attendee and board member of Proud 2 b Parents for a number of years. Her birth son has attended the meet ups since a young age and now as a teenager attends P 2 b Me youth group events. She works for a local authority as a senior Social Worker and has done for 36 years. Her specialism is within the Adoption Support service. Also, she sits as a member on the Adoption panel for a RAA.

Ryan

Ryan is a solo father to one, he conceived in 2019 after being told that HRT would make him infertile. He is a visible Seahorse Dad and is passionate about helping to make birth work inclusive and teaching other AFAB transgender people that they can transition and carry their own child. He is studying for an MA in Collaborative Theatre and works as a creative and activist. His goal is to set up a queer theatre company that re-tells classics and represents queer stories inspired by and for the LGBTQ+ community.

During his pregnancy he felt alone as an LGBTQ+ birthing parent which led him to finding the Proud 2 b Parents community, by joining the board he hopes that he will be able to support other LGBTQ+ parents like him to find community, and to help P2bP grow and develop as an organisation.
